The National Floriculture Development Program was initiated in 2005 to organize floriculture crop growers into Farmer organizations / associations and there by assist them to increase their capacity of income generation. Under this program grower organizations in selected districts were provided with material for infrastructure development as well as high quality imported mother plants for their cultivations. They were also provided with technical know how through routine visits to their nurseries as well as conducting workshops and seminars on selected topics. Income generation of growers attached these organizations was complimented by organizing large district level as well as small localized exhibitions and plant sales in these selected districts.
Grower Organizations are required to have monthly meetings which are attended by officers attached to this Unit. Discussion of future programs, training requirements etc. are held at these sessions and lectures or practical demonstrations are also held whenever needed.
